MEMBERSHIP DUES

ASSOCIATE MEMBER:          P 1,000

REGULAR MEMBER:  P 1,200

Membership shall be from January 1 to December 31.

New members joining between January 1 and June 30 will pay the full annual dues and can avail of full membership discounts and benefits. New members joining between July 1 and December 31 will pay half of the annual dues and can avail of 50% of discounts for members. In subsequent years, all members will be required to pay full years’ dues even if payment is made after January 1.

TYPES OF MEMBERSHIP

Associate members – Associate membership is open to individuals interested in the objectives of the organization. They may or may not be able to take an active role in the organization functions. Associate members cannot vote or hold office. All new membership applications shall be under associate membership.
Regular members – Regular membership is open by invitation only and subject to the approval of two-thirds majority vote at any regular meeting of the organization. Associate members can be eligible for regular membership provided the following criteria are met:

  • must be in good standing for at least 3 consecutive years with all dues paid up to date
  • must have participated in at least 80% of the club’s activities since their membership
  • must be recommended for appointment to regular membership by at least five (5) regular members in good standing.

Regular members must be able to attend meetings, and participate in organization activities. They have all privileges of membership including the right to vote and hold office.

Honorary members – Honorary membership may be granted from time to time to deserving individuals by a majority vote of the organization. Honorary members cannot vote or hold office.

APPLICATION OF MEMBERSHIP

Application for membership must be made in writing by filling out the membership application form. It must be sent to the secretary and voted on at the next regular meeting. Upon approval, a notice shall be issued. Payment for the annual dues must be made within four calendar days of receipt of notice.

RESPONSIBILITY OF MEMBERS

Members shall:

I. Read and abide by this Code of Ethics, the Constitution, By-laws, and other policies of Philippine Cat Lovers’ Society and the rules The Cat Fanciers Association (CFA)

II. Make every attempt to insure that any agent, employee, or other person acting for the Member comply with the Code of Ethics and the By-Laws of the Philippine Cat Lovers’ Society and the rules of CFA.

III. Accept the majority vote of the regular members and/or the Philippine Cat Lovers’ Society’s Board as the decision of the club.  Proposed changes shall be made transparent to all members of the club and any decision/s shall be made in a systematic and responsible manner.

V. Put the welfare of each of their cats above personal gain, profit, and/or personal convenience.

VI. Keep their cat/s safe at all times.

VII. Assume the responsibility for proper feeding, maintenance, health care, socialization, exercise and training of all cats in their care; retain or house only the cats for which they have adequate time, facilities and finances.

VIII. Carefully socialize their cats, and any cat exhibiting an obvious and continual temperament problem (extreme shyness or aggressiveness) is discouraged from being bred or exhibited in public.

IX. Observe the highest standards of sportsmanship: conduct themselves in such a manner as to reflect positively on themselves, their cats, the Philippine Cat Lovers’ Society, CFA, cat ownership and the cat hobby in general, regardless of location or circumstance.

X. Ensure honest and correct registration of each cat/kitten by keeping accurate records of all cats and litters as required by The Cat Fanciers Association.

XI. Have the responsibility to educate the public about responsible cat ownership and make every effort to educate new cat owners or interested persons by giving honest instructive and constructive comments.

XII. Not engage in false or misleading advertising or misrepresentation of their cats, nor shall they malign their competition by making false statements regarding their competitor's cats, breeding practices or person.

XIII. Never, knowingly, place or sell a cat, for any purpose, with unethical persons, those who would not provide proper and humane care to the cat, nor to any person who has violated any of the principals set forth in this Code of Ethics.

XV. Make every effort to be of assistance should you become aware of the mistreatment or abuse of any cat. Assistance can be given by notifying the breeder of the cat involved, the Philippine Cat Lovers’ Society, the proper authorities or helping in any other way in which you are able.

DISCIPLINE

All exhibitors, members, and other parties by voluntarily participating in events and activities of the Club, subject themselves to the rules and regulations of the Club.

All questions and requests must be made in writing addressed to the Board of Directors for concerns regarding club and membership policies, disputes, and protests; and to the Show Committee for concerns regarding show rules and regulations.
